Stellar UK, a subsidiary of Ant Yapi UK, has proudly announced its involvement in a transformative project at the Shotton Paper Mill in Deeside North Wales ; marking a significant step forward for the UK's paper manufacturing industry. The redevelopment of the 85.6-hectare site, led by Eren Holdings, a globally recognised family-owned conglomerate, aims to bolster the UK's production capacity and position it as a competitive exporter in the tissue paper market.

The Shotton Paper Mill Redevelopment

The 85.6-hectare Shotton Paper Mill site is undergoing a major redevelopment to accommodate two advanced manufacturing operations: a cardboard paper machine (PM3) and a tissue paper machine (TM1). Stellar UK has been awarded the contract to develop the TM1 machine building and its auxiliary units. The current phase of investment focuses on the first tissue machine (TM1), which has a capacity of 67,000 tonnes per annum of tissue paper.

Stellar UK's responsibilities include the construction of new buildings for reel storage and bale handling, along with the auxiliary units of the conveyor tunnel and pipe bridge. Additionally, Stellar UK will undertake the complete renovation of the existing TM1 building to accommodate the installation of the latest Yankee dryer equipment. The project also encompasses landscaping and infrastructure works, with an anticipated completion date of December 2025.

Transforming the UK's Tissue Paper Industry

This project is set to transform the UK's tissue paper industry by enabling domestic production at a scale that allows the UK to become an exporter in this field, reducing reliance on imports. The Shotton site is designed to be a model of sustainability, using 100% recycled materials in containerboard production and harvesting recycled waste wood and biomass to generate green energy.
