Harcourt House - The Redevelopment Of This Grade II Listed Building

Harcourt House is a Grade II listed building that needed complete redevelopment & upgrade works located in the heart of London. The redevelopment of this historic building was an exciting project for Ant Yapi UK that will breathe new life into this landmark. The team behind the project were committed to preserving the character and history of the building while creating a modern, vibrant space for businesses and residents to enjoy. We take a look at the redevelopment of this iconic building and what it means for Ant Yapi here in London.

During the Harcourt House redevelopment; it was important that we consult with the local conservation officer to know the specific requirements regarding this historic building and the protected sensitive historical elements

  • The façade & all of the original timber sash windows

  • The original timbers to the building and iron structures.

  • Decorative timber mouldings

  • Ornate plaster cornices and ceiling decorations

  • The roof turret features of Harcourt House.

In allowing for these requirements, we were able to:

  • put 2 levels below the original lower ground to house the spa and wellness and also a new medical facility for Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Strengthen the 100-year-old structure with additional steelwork and floor infills while not compromising space and other elements of historical note.

  • Remove all the timber sash windows, strip them back to the original wood, repair small parts to match the history and completely refurbish the sashes and reinstall to look exquisite.

  • Refurbish original timber wall panelling and moulded plaster decoration and bring the finish to a good modern level.
